It’s fair to say that the need to be environmentally and socially responsible is an integral part of life. At Ballard Landscape Design we look at this holistically from the side of managing our business as well as considered design and materials.

It is something we are constantly reviewing, considering and learning how to be better custodians to our country and the planet.

Here is an overview of some of our considerations:

  • We select plants that are sympathetic to the environment; in terms of likelihood to succeed in the climate/soil/microclimate, drought tolerance, biodiversity value and assistance with building and surface cooling

  • We select materials that are sustainable, whether that be recycled, responsibly produced or socially beneficial (e.g. locally sourced)

  • We operate a virtually paperless office, however for practicality and accuracy on occasion may need to print a plan for site use

  • We design and encourage “plant driven” gardens, offering a net increase in vegetation and canopy on a site
